About Us
The Link Foundation is based in East Berkshire and is passionate about improving the lives of children both locally and abroad.
We don't always see them around us but we all know of families quietly struggling to give their children the kind of care we take for granted; whether they've had to flee the trauma of domestic violence, are facing the horrors of a terminal disease desperate to ensure that the children are cared for, or simply families that just haven't been able to take their kids on holiday since they can remember. We, at The Link Foundation believe that these families deserve much more. As well as being safe, loved, fed and educated, these children deserve a childhood.
Our Approach
As we set up The Link Foundation in 2007, we thought really hard about how we could really ensure that the benefits were enjoyed by the children who needed them (often difficult with so much bureaucracy and complexity to contend with) and how we could focus on the one or two donations that would make the biggest contribution to them or their family.
We achieve this by working with a variety of charity partners, carefully selected and continually audited by The Link Foundation, and offering wonderful 'on-the-ground' support to the children we wish to help. These partners help us identify the most needy children and direct the money to where it will make most impact.
And, as we are not replicating the one-to-one support our partners offer 'at the sharp end', we can operate effectively on a tiny infrastructure. This ensures that our second objective is met, that an incredible 99% of all the funds raised goes directly to the children and their families.
What have we achieved? And what next?
This year we are delighted to be able to report that we have been able to help hundreds of children and a significant number of families across a variety of projects largely in the East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire areas, and across a few carefully selected international projects. This year, we will double our fundraising efforts by consolidating some of the notable, local events of last year as well as finding new, exciting opportunities, such as the Maidenhead Relay Marathon to bolster our funds.
Similarly, we will be continuing to find new, innovative ways to reach the children that most need a helping hand as well as nourishing the excellent support our partners are giving to diadvantaged children and families every day.
